CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Academic instruction ends shortly after 2:00 pm,
but most students stay on to participate in a wide variety of clubs
and athletics during the afternoon session.

About

ATHLETICS

The Boys' Cross Country Team won the Class D State Championship in 2012 and 2013, and the Class C State Championship in 2017. They have been finalists in our region and champions in the OCIAA league in 2015 and 2016. Since moving up to Class B, they have won the Section 9 Championship in 2019 and 2021.

CROSS COUNTRY

The Boys' Soccer Team has been Regional Champions since their initiation in 2015. They earned the Class D State Championship title in 2017, and again in 2021.

BOYS' SOCCER

The Girls' Soccer Team began in 2019 and,
through hard and disciplined work, won the
Class D State Championship in 2021.

GIRLS' SOCCER

The newest of the Eagles teams will embark on their second season in 2021-22, after reaching the Section 9 Final Round in their first year.

BASKETBALL

VOLLEYBALL

The Girls' Volleyball Team, launched in 2019,
made the State Semi-finals the following year,
and won the Class D State Championship in 2021.

COMPETITIVE CLUBS

ENVIROTHON

The Envirothon Team competes on the regional, state, and national levels, and has won six State Championships and two National Championships. In 2018, they took 1st place at the NCF National Envirothon competition.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

The Science Olympiad Team has consistently placed in the top ten at the New York State Science Olympiad competition, placing 4th in 2019. They have won five Regional Championships, and individual team members have earned gold medals at regional and state levels.

MOCK TRIAL

The Mock Trial Team has won three County Championships, two Regional Championships,
and been State finalists twice.

The Chess Team competes in the Mid-Hudson Scholastic Chess League. They have won multiple trophies, and won the championship in 2018.

Participants gain familiarity with famous artists, movements, and themes, and have opportunities to create artwork using a wide variety of styles.

Students enjoy competing with other enterprising clubs, learning skills to help build the future.

ROBOTICS

Participants learn techniques of drawing and painting, and complete several pieces using a variety of media and styles.

STUDIO ART

Students study theory, and practice and master processes including oxy-fuel cutting and welding, SMAW (stick), GTAW (Tig), and GMAW (Mig) welding. Many are awarded the rigorous American Welding Society's 3G Qualification. Advanced students hone their skills with fabrication projects, and may be selected to participate in the Skills USA Welding Competition, where our team placed 2nd in the Nation in June 2022!

WOODWORKING

Students learn basic carpentry skills, and gain experience in the use of hand tools, the study of wood types and their applications, drafting, and techniques of wood finishing.

Participants work with textiles, prepare food, and more, and develop time- and budgeting-management skills. In June 2022, one of our club members earned 3rd place in the Nation
for "Commercial Baking" at the Skills USA Competition!

SEWING AND CULINARY ARTS

Students have the opportunity to build outdoor structures such as lean-tos, gazebos, and pavilions using traditional construction methods instead of relying on modern fasteners and power tools. They may make and use hand tools such as slicks and froes, as well as more familiar hand drills and crosscut saws.

OUTDOOR CONSTRUCTION

This club involves the understanding and care of
The Mount Academy property. Projects may include
turf grass care, viniculture, landscaping, forest management, field management, animal husbandry, and aquaculture.
